Our mission

The running was always the excuse

JGID started as a run club and turned into something harder to name.

What actually mattered was never the miles. It was that a group of people had a standing reason to be in the same place at the same time, doing something difficult, where nobody had to explain why they'd come.

That turns out to be rare. Friendships built at school or work quietly fall away in your thirties and there's no obvious replacement. You don't lose people in one go — you just stop having a reason to see them, and then it's been two years.

So we built a reason.

Who it's for

Anyone. Any pace, any distance, any background. If you can turn up, you're in.

The charity we fund works specifically with men, because that's where the need they were set up to meet is sharpest. The club itself has never had a door policy and never will.

Why this cause

Suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK. Men account for three in every four suicides, and the rate has been climbing, not falling.

That's the reason behind all of it. ANDYSMANCLUB exist to change it — free talking groups, every Monday, nationwide, no referral and no cost. More about them and how to give →

The challenge

Once a month, everyone covers 13km — same weekend, different towns. Run it, walk it, or split it across the two days. Then we add it all up.

It's free, there's no start line, and nobody checks your pace.

The Challenge Series

Alongside the monthly 13, there's a run of endurance events designed to do one thing: keep the conversation going. Big enough that people ask about them, which is usually how the real conversation starts.

2026

  • 24 Hour Ultramarathon — 13 June
  • Full Distance Ironman — 22 August

More to come. If you want to take one on under the JGID banner, set up a page and tell us — we'll share it.

Who's behind it

JGID is run by George.

[ADD YOUR STORY HERE — a short paragraph on why you started this. What happened, or what you noticed, that made a run club feel necessary. This is the single most read paragraph on any site like this, and it only works in your own words.]

The endurance events above are his. The point of them isn't the medals — it's that doing something visibly stupid gets people talking, and talking is the whole objective.

Where the money goes

25% of every sale goes to ANDYSMANCLUB (registered charity 1179647). Not a portion of profits. Not "proceeds". A quarter of what you pay, before we take anything out for printing, postage or anything else.

You buy You pay They get
Run Club Cap £15.00 £3.75
Run Club Tee £19.00 £4.75

Paid over quarterly. Running total: [TOTAL TO BE ADDED]

And the other 75%?

Fair question, and one most brands dodge. It covers:

  • Making the kit — blanks, printing, packaging. The biggest single cost by some distance.
  • Postage — getting it to your door.
  • Card fees — the payment processor takes a cut of every order before we see it.
  • Running the site and the app — hosting, domain, and the AI behind the training plans.
  • Building what's next — the training app, the club finder, the challenge kits.

Nobody draws a wage from JGID. Not yet, and not while there's still a first version to finish. Anything left over goes back into building the thing.

What we're not

We're not a mental health service and we won't pretend to be. Nobody here is qualified to treat anything. What a run club can do is get you out of the house and put you next to other people. That's a real thing, but it isn't therapy.

If you need more than that, there are people who can actually help — and asking them is not a step down from going for a run.

Where this is going

A training app that builds plans around whatever you're chasing — first 5k, first ultra, or just getting the weight off. A way to find your nearest ANDYSMANCLUB group. A place to log your monthly 13 and watch it added to everyone else's.

It's being built now. The monthly 13 doesn't wait for it.
